Dupe for L'Occitane Shower Oil!

Keeping my skin moisturized is always a top priority! I always try to go for body washes that are intended to be extra moisturizing and am always looking for something different to try. I had been a fan of the L'Occitane hand creams for a while and when I had first learned that they also had this almond shower oil I knew I had to try it. I mean, an OIL? really? How would this be different than the two billion other body washes I have tried?
I knew this love affair would have to put on hold for a while because the product costs $24 which is more than I could ever be able to justify for a body wash. A little while ago, however, Sephora offered this tiny little sample size (its actually not that tiny, I got a good 8 uses out of it) as a gift with purchase, so I was finally able to try it.

It is everything I had hoped it would be. It is perfectly moisturizing, nicely scented, and amazing to shave with. If it weren't for this dupe that I found, I probably would have ended up buying the full size.

Eucerin Calming Shower Oil gives me the same results that the more expensive (though more luxurious) L'Occitane one does.

What L'Occitane says: "This foamy favorite is perfect for cleansing, hydrating, and even shaving. The unique formula is rich in almond oil, grape vine, rosemary, and nourishing lipids for silky smooth skin. The gentle almond fragrance is suitable for both women and men."
What Eucerin says: "Relieving dry, itchy skin begins in the shower with a unique body wash that does more than cleanse, it helps improve the condition of your skin. This unique body wash formulation combines soap-free cleansing with omega oils and other natural lipids to nourish and soothe."

Scent: Eucerin claims to be unscented, but there is definitely a smell. It doesn't linger after use at all but it isn't bad, its kind of an earthy natural smell. The L'Occitane one actually does smell like almonds and has an overall more pleasant scent but it also doesn't linger after showering so its not really a big factor.

Application:  Both go on as an oil. Neither feel greasy nor leave any kind of an oily residue - it just feels like moisture. Both turn into a very light lather - L'Occitane says it turns into a foam but mine definitely had zero foam action.

Results: I found these best to use for shaving (way better than any other soap or shaving cream). Both left the skin moisturized and allowed for the razor easily pass over the skin.

In conclusion, the only thing L'Occitane has over Eucerin is that is has a better scent which in my opinion isn't worth the extra cash money if you're ballin' on a budget.

  1. thanks to this I am in love with Eucerins version now. I am certainly balling on a budget and couldn't justify the money. I am wondering if adding sweet almond oil to it will make it even better

  2. I tried the Eucerin shower oil based on your suggestion and I find it thinner than the L'Occitaine oil and fishy smelling. I might add another oil to it to use it up but I think the smell is gross.
